Of course, if you already live in Scotland’s capital, you know it’s a great city. However, if you’re new to the area, there is an incredible amount to discover.
Arts
We really don’t need to mention the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe. But we will anyway. Whatever your tastes, you are sure to find something you enjoy.
Eats
Enjoying Edinburgh is about far, far more than the three festival weeks in August. The city has more restaurants and bars per head of population than any UK city – representing almost every style imaginable. There truly is something for everyone.
Entertainment
Comedy clubs, cinemas, and theatres. Having a good time in Edinburgh isn’t the sole preserve of the festival-goers.
Sports
As an Edinburgh Leisure employee, free membership of all our 29 centres is just the incentive you need to indulge a passion for sport. But if you’re just as passionate about watching sport, there’s plenty going on in and around the city. There’s a constant programme of events at Meadowbank Sports Centre and the Royal Commonwealth Pool. Not to mention Edinburgh’s two premiere league football teams and Murrayfield rugby stadium.
Life
Whether you decide to live in the city, commute from a nearby area – or from a more distant rural location – there is a huge choice of quality accommodation available. Visit ESPC for the best choice of properties to buy and let both in and outside the city.
Buildings
The castle the Scott Monument, the rigid lines of the new town and the narrow lanes of the old one. Perhaps Athens should be called the Edinburgh of the South.
